Hello all,
not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, so please let me know if it's not.
I recently booked a trip to Europe using Aeroplan points and decided to "splurge" a bit by taking Premium Economy back to Canada since my final destination is YVR. I've only ever done PE on BA pre-covid and have heard mixed (although generally good) comments about Lufthansa, although it's usually referring to their First Class offerings.
Anyways, while my initial plan was to return to Canada from Dublin to save time on the flights coming back, since its with points, I'm coming back to Canada via FRA.
I know that in order to claim any VAT refund, you need to do it at your last European spot, which in this case would be FRA. Unfortunately, my layover is just over an hour. I've only been to the FRA airport once and since I was just starting my holiday then I never looked into where the VAT office could be.
My VAT refund experience in the past has been painless, but based on commentary and comments from other travellers, getting a refund out of Germany is a text case study in dealing with bureaucracy it seems.
My question is if I can likely do the VAT refund in Dublin given my super short layover or if I have to hope for the best in Frankfurt but assume it's a long shot.
PS - is it true that there's no alcohol in PE? I know AC allows people to pay for higher tier wines, but does Lufthansa have this option too?
Thanks!
