I don't think it's unique to LA. Saw the same in Chicago this summer. Two nights of 80,000 fans, many of whom want to stay in the center city, plus various people who just come to hang out and party, plus normal non-concert related customers for a summer weekend in Chicago.

So yes, basically Super Bowl prices. I don't consider that gouging...just responding to the market reality.

I ended up staying in the suburbs.
