You are more than welcome to try that out and report! :P I sure wouldn't test it after the check-in cutoff and risk being stuck outside security without a boarding pass. And at least in the pre-check line, even if TSA doesn't actually look at your mobile or physical boarding pass, the line checkers do before you enter the line (or at least they did this week at SEA).
