Things were better, but, putting aside anomalies of pandemic and post-pandemic disruption, one has to also admit that the prices have gone down. Who has ever thought of a 100-150 EUR return ticket with LH back in the day? Especially inflation-corrected.
Scarce 10 years ago, buying an intra-EU return from my then-local airport for 500-600 EUR was entirely normal. Now the normal price is 200-300. Literally half.
