Flying into CUN to get to MID is like flying into SBA to get to SAN, and then some. It’s five hours on the ADO bus and there’s a forced operational overnight both directions. I see LAX-MID as more like LAX-GDL than CUN in terms of traffic and broader OneWorld connectivity.

To the topic at hand, though, GUA strikes me as a somewhat similar play - I don’t think there’s a west coast nonstop on a OneWorld carrier. *A has UA and Avianca, Skyteam has DL. Maybe I’m seeing something that isn’t there, but it does fill an alliance partner gap.
