rechecking baggage on connecting flight?

(preamble: this is my first post, and so if this isn't the right forum, feel free to move this, and I apologize.)

I just booked a ticket with BA, IAH-MAN with a connecting flight at LGW. I know I have to go through customs/immigration in London, but will I have to collect my baggage and then recheck it, or will it be checked through to MAN? I've read conflicting reports, so I wanted to see if anyone knew here before I tried contacting BA directly. Thanks for any help you can give
