Absolutely do not fly on the one way expensive ticket and expect to be reimbursed after you have flown on it. If you do so DL will only give you an ecredit for the much cheaper second leg of the round trip.
That's what I figured. Weather looks good today so I'm taking my chances. Just cancelled the one-way and hoping my later flight goes OK.
