You can hardly expect the Points Guy to ever have a bad word to say about airlines eroding anything. They are there to sell the credit card, and it's irrelevant to them if you can't use those Avios to book a flight from Chicago to Los Angeles any more...
HfP has a UK focus so the fact that you can't get as many US domestic flights as before is irrelevant to their readership.
As for FT, dare I say that the BA board is particularly uncurated - therefore you have dozens of threads dealing with basically the same issue, then lapsing into oblivion. (rather than people using the same thread to add their own perspectives)
