I saw this in a Hilton branded hotel recently - the difference is that I was still given my two plastic water bottles as a Diamond, and the re-useable glass water bottle in the room was offered at no charge.

I also saw this at a Marriott branded AC recently - again, a bottle was offered, with no charge. Each floor had a hydration station.

I do expect more hotels will include water bottles in rooms, and water fountains/stations on each floor (replacing the ice only machines of yesteryear). However, I hope they don't try to charge for it like this hotel did
