Exactly. Choice of vocabulary is important. Jargon gets a bad rep sometimes, but it is often needed for clarity. (especially between pilots and air traffic control!

Over here in Europe we use "partner" as a generic term for husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc. So "travelling with my partner" is a very common expression and I was just running with
invisible 's choice of wording.
