That one's on you, friend, it seemed clear that you were referring to someone traveling with you as your 'travel partner' and he just ran with your phrasing. We run into the same thing in the Southwest forum, where 'companion' has an airline specific meaning but many posters use the phrase more loosely.
In any event, Craig just meant that Turkish doesn't want a new face booking an award for someone else if you aren't traveling with them, and did a lovely job of succinctly explaining why the airlines would prohibit that. As you saw, there is no issue (aside from availability and IT) booking with an *airline* partner, like United, without also flying a leg on Turkish metal.
