I talked to the phone rep and he seemed quite confused on what happened and submitted a refund request, so now I have to wait 7-30 days to hear back. Really annoying.

I have never had any issue with the 24 hour refund process before. Has anyone else and what was the outcome?

I can deal with a credit if I need to, since I don't have proof, but don't even have that at the moment and I have to buy a ticket in the next week or so that I can use for part of it.
Just a couple of ideas:
1) Sometimes when a Delta transaction is cancelled within the first 24 hours, the ticket is cancelled and your credit card is never actually charged. Did the transaction post to your credit card? If a flight purchase posts to your credit card, the credit card company knows the corresponding Delta ticket number (13 digits starting with 006) which you or Delta can then look up.
2) Does this cancelled ticket show up when you view all your receipts in your Delta wallet? If so, what is the "status" of the flight(s) shown on that ticket?
