I've done this sort of trip many times as 2x Adult + 2x Children in J with no status and never paid for seats.

The seating assignments at T-72 are usually pretty good and you should be able to see the assignments in MMB. Change at OLCI if any major problems, however at T-72 there is time to call BA to enquire and for a seating request to the back office to be sent.
