I was not excited about this when it got started - but I am starting to like them more and more.
- I am less likely to take the small bottles home with me at the end of a stay (yes, it is nice to have some extra stuff lying around, but enough already).... hate on me for doing this.
- if you go to the Marriott FT site, there are similar discussions about the pro's and con's
- I have heard that the "body wash" is much better for the shower tile/wall/etc for cleaning since does not leave a soap residue - this was something new to me and I am sure this is a good think in helping keep the showers cleaner and require less work... and I am sure there is some benefit to the pipes, drainage, etc....I see this as an overall benefit (cleaner showers, less drain issues) AND reducing costs
- My biggest gripe is that the quality of some of the stuff appears to be in decline. I used to like experimenting with different offerings, but now it is the same, unchanging, low end junk (both for Hilton and Marriott). I recently got my hair cut during an out of town trip - and the person cutting my hair, without knowing anything about me, said "wow, you must stay at a lot of hotels - your hair feels beat-up"
sure, I have had a very empty bottles or brackets coming off, but I have found that to be rare and the hotel is very quick to fix them
although, at least now, it seems there are still opportunities for getting the small bars of soap and maybe some lotion - like if you want to wash your hands?
Interestingly, I am in a Hampton right now - been here about 8 times over the past year or so and about 6 months ago they transitioned to the large bottles on the wall (I saw it coming when they installed the mounting brackets) - but they still have bar soap. Large bottles for shampoo, conditioner, and lotion (on the wall by the mirror/sink) - but no body wash?
not sure how I feel about the Zero/0 - but I would like to try the Crabtree stuff (maybe because I associate it as a higher quality brand?)
regarding the question of filling - I have seen on the carts "full bottles", so my sense is that they replace them when getting empty with full bottles and probably clean the old ones and reuse them a few times or maybe just toss them?
