In general, you have two choices. You can use the credit on a flight that will combine properly with your MUC-FLL flight — depending upon the fare rules, that might be FLL-MUC, FLL-Europe, US-MUC, or US-Europe, or even some other combinations. That’s the simplest.

The other approach is to call UA and ask them to reprice the flight you took as a one-way and issue a residual credit for the rest. That credit could be used for any flight. However, one-way international flights are often more than half the roundtrip price — in fact, they may be more than the roundtrip price, meaning there’s no leftover credit at all.
