The other solution is to adopt the QR approach and introduce a fixed CE cabin that limits capacity to a finite number of seats, the ticket price rockets as a result but then the lounge crush problem is resolved.
Or....
We just accept that at certain times of the day and year there will be pinch points in lounge demand v lounge capacity and that on the whole to a greater degree, the lounges BA offer at LHR do serve their purpose.
I think there's some weight in the notion of re-designating Galleries Club North as Galleries Club Europe and Galleries Club South / Galleries T5B as Galleries Club World. I think this could work quite nicely.
Under my controversial new lounge access rules, I'd allow Silvers and Sapphires flying CE to still access the Galleries Club World lounges but restrict Silvers and Sapphires flying ET to the Galleries Club Europe lounge. I'd make Galleries Club Europe far more utilitarian with more tables, bar counters and workstations to discourage lengthy usage and persistent manspreading.
I could also then tailor the F&B offering in each lounge according to the passenger audience if I wanted to. Ie a more to go style in GCE and more comprehensive in GCW.
Never going to happen though
