I second Bosnia. Not terribly touristy and so much to see and do. Easy to get aound..intersting eclectic food thats a mix of its history. Dubrovnik otoh is very touristy and rebuilt even though it's beautiful. Our itinerary a few years ago. Flew into Sarajevo spent 4 days in and around ..full day car and driver with stops at Mostar an interesting monestary with a lakeside fresh fish restaurant and swimming in some waterfalls ending up in Dubrovnik that night. Ferry to Split..rented a car ..drove to Plitvice ..spend the night there and hike when the day trippers aren't there. Drove to Zagreb which was an interesting city and easy to get around. Interesting architecture. Took a train from Zagreb to Vienna through Slovenia. Did not have time to stop in Slovenia but wish we had. Guess what I'm getting at is that in 2 weeks you would be able to do a lot in this area. There are also many nice islands noisy ones like hvar or quieter like korcula.
