I appreciate your concern for my supply of macarons! Budapest is great but we just spent 4 wonderful nights there on a recent trip, so it made my "not" list:

I've had several good stays at the CPH Marriott over the years, including multi-generational trips like yours. The city of Copenhagen checks many of your items, and while the Marriott isn't the fanciest or most unique hotel in the world it DOES do a very good of delivering on the old Marriott promise of warm hospitality. The club lounge puts out a great spread and both breakfast and dinner. The Tivoli is a tourist spot but has been going strong for so long because it really is charming and fun. That and a boat tour of the city and a day spent just walking around taking in the sights would easily fill three days. I can recommend some fabulous restaurants if you end going there and want to glam it up a bit.
