The breakfast is routine and adequate.
Both stays had great servers but under pressure from what I perceive
as understaffing. Gone are the lobster omelettes lemon soufflé pancakes lobster salad on weekends of years past
The Hyatt culinary magic is gone be it cost cutting or trying to wring more profit out of their ROI etc
Most normal folks will likely be satisfied.
Like great omelettes and they do them here crepe style which dries them out
to sandpaper as they cook to quickly.Similar to well done beef that’s an acquired taste.
My preference is soft or not dry in anyway.
After 2 attempts and then requesting hard boiled eggs when it failed I left not wanting to peel take the shell of hot eggs at the table with my bare hands in front of others.
I left without breakfast frustrated and it ruined an otherwise brilliant 600 dollar one night stay as there is an expectation
to have a benefit that even an airport hotel can deliver on.That execution issue aside the quality of food ingredients here is above average.
They also do not have thinly sliced Nova salmon typically found at most upscale hotels especially Hyatt

Everything I personally perceive from our fellow trusted long time posters here claim Thompson is stingy to Globes
I take their word for it.Despite my breakfast criticisms for the first time in years Andaz 5 has a solid GM that cares about guest satisfaction and equally important experience.
Unfortunately his culinary team needs more cooking technique expertise
If a 99 dollar a night Doubletree in Dallas can make a proper omelette so should Andaz be able too.

IMO Andaz 5 is the Hyatt in New York in second place Park Hyatt due to overpricing and recognition challenges
and Hyatt Grand Central because it’s cheap sometimes and a good deal with it’s known caveats that have plagued it for years
Most other Hyatts just don’t appeal to me in NYC with the exception of Chatwal. My issue is cost value so I look elsewhere

At the end of the day Hyatts lackluster performance in NYC has simply led me to competitors and with a fortune in savings
hundreds per stay I have a budget of 100 dollars a day extra to spend without hoping Hyatt can fulfill breakfast expectations
the way they have historically have in most of their cities where they still shine
Off topic a much disliked in social media older hotel Hyatt Regency Greenwich made an amazing breakfast every
morning of my stay and upgraded brilliantly @ 8 k a night in points.
So they still have their gems
Andaz Vienna is killing it with old world new world modern standards and European excellence when it comes to breakfast.New York deserves even better
Wish that culinary team was here in a US Hyatt! Proof Hyatt can still rock our world 🌎 when they make an effort
