On the first screen, with the Blue 1 Dates and Flight highlighted, isn't always accurate (as it says on that screen).

If you press Continue and go to Blue 2 Price - then after selection of Avios amount (when relevant) the accurate price should show up.

Usually UK - USA flights are best bought as return tickets starting and ending in the UK, but there can no doubt be exceptions.
