Eh, idk, the bloggers and credit card pushers of the Hyatt Promised Land love to harp about the "guaranteed" upgrades, but no one at the property level is forcing compliance any more than with any other chain...in my first few months as Globalist I've spent time at several properties already that had standard suites for sale that I never saw the inside of (and the pricing of said suites didn't imply to me that they were last available or such).
Like I said, I'm giving it a try for a year and seeing what it's like - I've already seen some good upgrades and the breakfast benefits (e.g. room service at PH) are very nice. But the above was also kind of a running joke with myself because regardless of chain, it seems like every stay in Germany with top-tier status I am proudly "upgraded" to a room that is exactly the same as booked, just with "deluxe" added to the name or such.
