On international itineraries, you can upfare for just the price difference - no fees. So call UA Reservations and see if that H fare on the return is available for $45.

That way, if you cannot get UA to let one SWU cover the entire return, of when you check-in at SIN they won't check you in all the way through, you can decide then and there is you want to use 30K miles to cover an upgrade of the whole itinerary.
