Operating one flight per week to Durban doesn't make sense. Basic schedules from CX suggest a minimum of three flights per week at entry level. Having a crew either sitting around for six nights in destination. or dead-heading them on a domestic route is costly and a huge opportunity cost.
Airlines have to apply for traffic rights even if they intend to codeshare, which would make more sense, perhaps.
