Typically, I would make such a booking at a hotel that doesn't have any other promotions or discounts, where I would end up paying close to Daily Rate anyway. These types of bookings often come with things like a free breakfast plus a $100 dining credit, making it still more attractive than the best direct booking available. I think I last used such a rate at the Fairmont Geneva last year, and I both earned points and redeemed points, and had all ALL benefits provided, like welcome amenity and drink vouchers.
Thank you both - this is really helpful to know!

Thanks Macaron - if the rates are eligible/qualifying rates does that mean that it should be possible to pay for them with Accor points? I log into my Accor account and the bookings all say that I will earn points for them and give an estimate so surely that means they are eligible rates?
I’ve received initial replies from the hotels which say that Virtuoso bookings aren’t direct bookings but from people’s experiences on here as well as what my bookings on the Accor website say this can’t be true!
