I just flew MIA DFW ICT and return on an L fare. Both inbound and outbound segments were on L fares. Checking my activity details, I see that on the outbound the mileage credits read Distance as the method, but the return has Fare listed as the method. The "strange" thing Im seeing is that even though both the inbound and outbound share the same L fare, when the accrual is done on the basis of fare, the number of Base miles is greater than when the method is distance. In this case, Fare method yields 1650 base miles for the MIA to DFW and distance method with the same L fare yields 1450 base miles.

I guess that not all L fares are the same and some yield more base miles than others.... or, what am I missing....?
