I just returned from one of the more brutal business trips I have ever taken. What was going to be grueling in the first place was made slightly worse due to IRROPS in that it required an additional overnight flight. Ultimately I was away from home for 3 nights and spent all 3 nights on planes. IAH-FRA, then a 10 hour layover. FRA-LAD with having to arrive in the AM and rush to the hotel, shower, iron my monkey suit and head to my meeting. 15 hours after arriving in LAD, I was headed back to FRA with the same aircraft and crew that brought me there. 7 hours in FRA and then back to IAH. Luckily I utilized the Marriot at FRA for a day room to at least relax and shower etc, which made the layovers tolerable.
I have been traveling for business for about 12 years. Really hadn't flow much with United but I took a new job and moved to the swampy city of Houston in 2011

. After arriving home last night and doing my normal routine of making myself stay up till midnight, I slept till about 7am, all good! After I woke up and took a shower I was thinking about the people that hit 3 million miles, 4 million miles, etc etc. I am currently at 1.6 million miles and just thought, man, I'm tired!! I just don't think I can keep doing this long enough to hit 3 million or higher. 2 million will happen in the next few years, for sure.
So, how did your million miler life play out?
- Age when major travel started? (business for me): 31
- Age when 1 million miles hit?: 38
- Age when 2 million miles hit?: currently at 1.6M and am 43
- Age when 3 million miles hit?

- And beyond!
