I finally had a chance to sample the new food and beverage in Acela first class and I was impressed. First off, the new menus are really nice with high production values!
The other big upgrade are the wine offerings. The Pommeroy Champagne is quite good.
I had the Starr restaurant offering on this menu which was the manicotti and was very tasty - I still wish they would add some sort of salad as a side with this or similar dishes.
The only negative on this trip was the service, which was very slow - I'm used to the attendants in first class really hustling to get the first round of drinks out as we leave NY, but it was a good 30 minutes before I finally was served, which was unacceptable considering the travel time between NY and PHL. The only redeeming factor was that when I ordered the champagne, the attended opened a fresh bottle at my seat and left it at a nearby unoccupied table so I could just top off at will.
Here are some pics - again note the new menus!
Impressive new menus!
