Great... except it, as I understand it, forces those legs into "AA Prime".
That, from what I can gather, forces an AA flight number onto those legs.
Per the Ts&Cs for Double Tier Points that would mean those flights would fall foul of the promotion, correct?
Would it be only those flight legs or would the full itinerary, including the BA-coded flights (it's on 125- ticket), fail to meet the requirements (and therefore forego any and all of the extra TPs)?
Basically I'm contemplating if I just upgrade one leg JFK-LAX to First, as I've never tried the AA transcon product. But is that really worth the 140TP loss? Probably not... yet also feels like a 'waste' of GUF1 (which has been applied LHR-JFK both ways already btw).
Conundrum...
Obviously only you will know whether it is good value to use GUF1 or not and whether losing 140 tier points (double that it if it goes to AA numbers for that leg) is worth it.
Reading through the forum posts, it appears you only lose the double TPs for any leg you don't have a BA number, although I personally don't have any experience of this, since my last two BAH bookings have all been on BA numbers only.
In relation to Trans con, we flew as a couple for the 1st time JFK-LAX and back in J last month and it was perfectly adequate. While it is a 2-2 seating (perfect if you are travelling as a pair) compared to the 1-1 in First, it was perfectly fine although the aircrafts were showing its age and service was just ok.
As you probably know, the First seats in trans con are the same as the J seats in the long haul 773 AA aircraft in reverse herring bone and are ok but for me it was not worth upgrading to First on Transcon but you might have a different view.
