I'll open with the obvious that this is not my style of property - an isolated resort on an island of theme parks. However, the W brand is a draw to me, and I wanted to try it out. What I found confirmed my assumption that this is a good, yet inconvenient, hotel that is not for me. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded several days in advance to a Fabulous King Pool View, which was nice as the property seemed nearly sold out online the day before arrival (only 1 twin option showing as available)
  • I liked the room design - comfortable - and W-styled with nice headboard lights and other multicolored lights throughout
  • Room was large and spacious
  • Bed was very nice - very plush mattress, plush pillows, decently plush covers
  • Contrary to the report in the Wiki, I thought the wand head in the shower provided fantastic pressure and was easily aimed for full body coverage
  • Nice views towards lots of boats
  • Elite welcome gift breakfast was quite good
    • Nice omelet
    • Soft pancakes
    • Really good mochas with lots of chocolate
    • Good bacon, croissants, and hashbrowns
  • Elite happy hour benefit is one drink from a limited menu - regardless, the tequila sunrise at Woobar was quite good
  • Ping pong ball giveway at check-in - I ended up drawing some lotion
Neutral:
  • Delivered some fruit and wine as welcome gift - didn't partake in either - didn't seem like they read my profile
Cons:
  • Property is isolated and hit-or-miss on getting Grabs to pick you up out here - couldn't get one in the evening after 20 minutes, shockingly got one around 11 AM to go to the airport
    • Public transit requires you to take a bus that comes every 15 minutes to Sentosa Express (a horribly crowded and stuffy monorail) to Vivo City to then get to Harbourfront MRT station - very long and out of the way
  • Resort - no late checkout - they were very clear about 12 PM and wrote it on my key packet - I didn't care as my flight was at 3:30
  • Towels smelled weird - they need to change their detergent
  • Check-in was a bit prying - "is this a staycation? Are you here on business? Are there lots of flies in America?" - the last question was a bizarre response to a comment about the humidity, and who would stay on Sentosa for business?
Overall, I don't have a reason to return here, but it is comfortable.
