To clarify there is,
technically, a bag interline agreement. It just doesn't mean anything operationally. My bag was tagged all the way to the US when I checked-in at CUZ, but I still had to collect my bag in Lima and take it to United check-in. UA pulled the bag tag off and replaced it with a new one.

FWIW, I walked by the Sumaq lounge before my EWR flight. ~15 people waiting in line outside the door. It might not be a very comfortable place to wait. Let us know how you get on.
