Big Renovations Planned!!!

If you're planning any stays at the CLL starting this fall and running until through next spring, you might have to deal with some disruption or reduced room availability, but it's for the long term gain. They plan to fully renovate all remaining rooms and suites on the Main Building of the hotel. I've stayed in a number of recently renovated suites, so if the plan is to continue with that style through the rest of the rooms, then I think this will turn out very well.

One improvement, which I've never personally found to be an issue, but can cause concern, is air conditioning will be added to all rooms. Currently, all Two Bedroom Lakeview Suites, all 8th floor and 7th floor rooms and suites have AC, along with some Glacier Wing rooms, but much of the other wings of the main building don't currently have it.

I understand the plan is to start with the Painter Wing this fall (which would be rooms X03 through X23, or up to and including the 1 Bedroom Lakeview turret). They will then move across to the Glacier Wing (X59 through X84, or up to the 2 Bedroom Lakeview turret (but possibly not including X59 since they were reno'd 2 years ago)), and then finish with the Barrott Wing in the centre of the hotel. I suspect the 7th floor is excluded, since they renovated Fairmont Gold 3 or 4 ago.

I look forward to seeing the final product, but I will admit to being a bit nervous with bookings and expected completion dates. When Banff Springs was completing their Gold floor renovation in 2022, it fell a few months behind schedule due to global supply chain problems and materials and furniture availability, and they had to scramble to find alternate suites last summer for previously-booked guests like myself. I'll be there later this month, so might learn some more details then.
