couples in even row polaris - better across aisle than center?

My wife and I got upgraded to Polaris for a flight IAD -> CDG in a Boeing 777-200. They put us in 12 D, G. i.e. the center seats that are angled away from each other. We're wondering if it might be better instead to have seats across the aisle (e.g. 12 G, L) to have a bit more communication with each other.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
