If BA delivers your flight without the advertised catering then this aspect is not deducted from your bill / the ticket. Sometimes on asking, you get something, sometimes not. Never in the original method of payment and always in Avios.
As an analogy aficionado perhaps you would prefer if I had said ‘If the grocery delivery arrives an hour late I get no compensation but the inconvenience is still greater than missing out on a tiny salad on a 40 minute flight’. I still believe life is far too short to worry about stuff this trivial, but if others like to devote themselves to endless complaining and seeking after “compensation”, that is a matter for them, I guess.
