I kindly request your advice on the reasonable compensation I can expect from British Airways for this inconvenience.
If any of you have encountered similar issues with special meal requests in Club Europe at London City Airport, I would greatly appreciate hearing about your experiences.
Thank you for your time and assistance. Your input will be invaluable in determining the appropriate course of action with British Airways.
I will address a number of issues which have been mentioned in this thread, but first of all: you should email BA as soon as possible with details of the flight number, date, etc. You will be given compensation, probably Avios. If you are not an Executive Club member you should mention this as they may then give you a voucher instead.
On short routes such as this you will probably get a cold tray, which will be quite respectable, in particular because the short European routes are reverse catered ex-LHR by Hermolis, who are renowned for the quality of their kosher airline meals. It is very rare indeed for either their short haul or long haul meals to be substandard, so I was rather surprised to hear of the poor quality meal someone mentioned earlier from LHR-NCE (Post #17). These things do happen, even with the regular meals, as anyone who reads this forum can vouch for! In my experience, this is extremely rare. It is also extremely rare for a kosher meal not to be loadede, but it does happen sometimes (just last week our son in law failed to get his kosher meal in WT+ from EWR-LHR).
As to "why bother as its a short route". I'll tell you why: CE is no great shakes for comfort, but the small meals served can really make a difference. Prior to COVID I would fly for the day LHR-MUC about once a month. I would take an early morning flight out of LHR and return late in the evening. I bought CE with Avios, which worked out very cost effective (paid economy would have been very expensive for a one day trip). Kosher breakfast in the lounge, some more on the plane, a snack on board on the way home, and I didn't have to worry about food for the whole day.
