I had the same thing happen to me 30+ years ago with Hyatt. I had changed jobs, hence travel patterns, and hadn't stayed at a Hyatt for a year or so. Got the "stay soon or you're out" letter. To their credit, when I explained my situation, they extended the deadline by 6 months. I did not make a Hyatt stay in that time and got booted. While I understood the business rationale, it still did sting a bit and it wasn't until 25 years later that I stepped into a Hyatt again. Admittedly, there were fewer (no?) ways to generate non-stay account activity back then, so in today's world likely wouldn't be an issue. Net, I understand both sides of the argument.
