I have never had success redeeming two or more United credits in the app or online. Even calling results in multiple hour calls with agents who can’t seem to combine them in any sort of reasonable time frame before I inevitably lose the call. They also want to charge a $25 convenience fee to do what’s impossible to do online. After a few phone attempts I tried going to my local airport and asking at a United counter but they said they don’t issue tickets using credits either. Am I missing something?
UA has a couple of different types of credit, depending upon the exact manner in which they were credited. In most cases, it’s straightforward to combine two credits of the same type. Note that Future Flight Credits (FFC), received from cancelling or rebooking an existing ticket for a lower fare, are tied to the specific passenger and can’t be transferred or combined with FFC for another passenger,
The most difficult credits to use are ones that represent partially-used tickets.
