I completely agree, and this was the purpose of my post. Tickets purchased through the Capital One portal have plenty of sharp edges that are not obvious. My purpose was to share the pain I experienced so others wouldn't.
As far as cheap prices, I could have gotten the same fare on Delta.com without the sharp edges. I booked on Capital One only to use the $300 credit which is effectively a rebate of my annual fee. But in retrospect, the effectiveness of that rebate is much less than advertised.
