At this point for the circumstances now and in the foreseeable future, Norwegian’s growth by way of this regional acquisition is just what I want in this continent whose markets are too dominated by the ugly IAG, LHG and AF-KL groupings and their revenue-sharing JVs with non-European carriers. If anything, I see this Norwegian move as slated to be good for my purse strings as a consumer. Wideroe will be an asset that keeps Norwegian afloat longer — and that’s got some upsides for me as a consumer who really dislikes having dominating industry leviathans with their litany of governmental waivers and favors.
Whilst I agree with you in principle, having an irrational, discretionary travel vehicle securing more funding so that it can ship more Norwegians to Palma and Tenerife in winter, and using (almost) state infrastructure as collateral is not the way ahead,
