There is near-zero chance you’ll be able to clear an upgrade on that flight. I forget if SFO-BOS went back to being CPU eligible or not — it was treated like SFO-EWR for a while, in which case YBM upgrades wouldn’t apply anyway — but it doesn’t matter, because the likelihood of there being PN on that flight is nil. J5 C0, two weeks from departure, UA is saying “we’ll sell these,” and I have no reason to doubt them.
Your only realistic shot is to see if the cash upgrade price drops.
