Yes, AA's move to dynamic space has made it MUCH harder to redeem avios for domestic AA flights.

But if you hunt and peck space is still out there.

For example I picked a random day in January (15th) and EF shows T and U space available on a variety of connections from LGA-DEN. This also shows up at ba.com.

Also make sure you're searching BA and EF both by the entire journey and segment by segment. For example searching just LGA-DEN above ba.com yielded a few results via ORD, but if you search segment by segment there are also options available via DFW, CLT, etc.
