Boarding first is very much about egos and status - similar to DYKWIA. Some also like to be seen to be sat in the first few rows, too. Even when I am in group 1, I prefer to board as late as possible. Step on and sit quickly down in Club before we push back a few moments later.

I recently flew EasyJet to and from Athens (BA was sold out for my dates) and I was very impressed with their very clear and professionally enforced hand luggage policy. There is no ambiguity, either, as both printed boarding cards and the app versions all show your hand luggage entitlement. At the gate, staff very politely enforced this too - and despite a few huffs from some, they could not argue as their boarding passes were very clear. The onboard service was also very impressive - all BOB but delivered well with a very extensive menu and what appeared to be well stocked trolleys. If they could fly from Heathrow, I would certainly be using them a lot more!
