What is the point of wanting to board first if you don’t need to find overhead space for your bag.

Even though I’m group 1, if I’m travelling light (or checking in a bag), I much prefer to board close to last than to get on early and just sit in my seat waiting for everyone else to board.

But I guess not many people share this logic, otherwise the “give up your bags to board first” would never work.
