There is no real knowing what either carrier will do in the winter schedule 2024.
ANA may reshuffle their 77W once again, but with both JAL and ANA heavily reducing F from California there is probably a reason to believe that the market is not what it used to be. But I thought the late SFO HND departure (1am or so) was still with the new 77W cabin.
JAL is getting their first A350-1000 for the winter schedule, meaning some 77W hours will be freed up, as it seems the retirement is not as quick as the delivery, and it is a question where they will go.
From a soft product perspective, I do prefer JAL. While both airlines have made some cuts to their premium class menus, ANA has taken the more heavy handed approach. But on the global scale of things both remain very good carriers.
