I actually had a great experience in DCA with irrops--had booked EYW-DCA-DTW with a long 7 hr layover (to possibly have dinner with a friend). Dinner fell through, so facing a 7 hr layover noticed a delayed DTW flight which we could make. They switched luggage and we were 1/2 on the standby list. Lifetime gold here...couldn't have been more helpful. Luggage even made it.
