I've flown a lot of BA J flights over the last 2 years and not once had the old CW seats. You need to do a bit of careful pre-planning (and hope the plane isn't switched out), but generally speaking you can secure the new CS. These days I often fly into the US to a location where CS is
almost guaranteed (AUS and JFK are two examples) and then fly F domestically within the US. I too hate the old CW. It's well past it's date now
