Travelling in the Mediterranean this summer is not exactly comfortable at the moment with the high prices, crowds and dodgy service, but by turning back time this HR is a pleasant oasis of calm:
  • Room: Somewhat stale smelling, but otherwise pleasant enough. I appreciate a proper desk and chair. Globalist Suite upgrades only get you a Deluxe Room at the moment, but the hotel moved upped me to a Regency Suite
  • Servicee: Old-school, pleasant and effective
  • F&B: Several venues including a formal restaurant with a pretty serious chef. It's rare to see free prosecco with breakfast nowadays! Their cocktail menu is ancient, but at least one bartender really knows what they're doing
  • Fellow guests: Mainly Greek and a smattering of other Europoean citizenships - nobody taking ad-hoc photoshoots or playing music on their phones. Lots of kids, but not really disruptive
  • Price: Thessaloniki is not a prime tourist venue, nor is the hotel up to date or by a beach, but still - 8,000 points or less than €200 strikes me as a bargain
Exactly why I am fond of this hotel. Chilled out, relaxed, nice pool, etc. but not a setting that will draw Instagrammers, party-ers, etc. And costing few points...

Are they still providing Globalists with copious amounts of complimentary bottles of red wine? The last time I stayed for several days, I would finish the "amenity gift" bottle after a couple of days and they'd keep bringing another one each day! And is the lounge still just a few sandwiches and drinks?
