Coupled with post-covid, they've quadrupled the prices for first, and cut the carriages down from 3 1/2 or 2 1/2 to 1/2 a carriage and some extra seats in the next carriage (which isn't really clear, and I'm not completely sure consistent). if you are unfortunate enough to have a later train, the last carriage (only real first exclusive) is full of staff having a chat on the best seats. Then the server comes out gives you one run, you get food (some hot, which is an improvement) booze OR coffee/tea, and they're off play with their phone. If other passengers come on, the train crew are masters of blind and deaf walking there and back. I'm sure you can only stop one by standing in the way in the corridor, and they will still try and navigate around you avoiding eye contact.

When Virgin it ranged from bad to absolutely excellent, but you could game it to be cheap. Now it's just consistently bad. It's as if they fired the ones who don't playing on their phones.
