I find WS consistently to be a better value with more direct options within the West than AC. For example, if I want to fly YEG-YYJ it's either WS n/s or connect via YVR on AC with the latter often being noticeably more.
WS is competing against Flair in the non-stop market.
Meanwhile, AC has had to pare down capacity considerably across the network. Loads are high and they don't need to discount.
