I arrived around 0930 and was offered an upgrade that afternoon, or the room type I booked immediately, and I gladly took the latter. I ended up making another reservation for an extra night and they let me keep my room. This was my first time ever getting >1 cent per point value, though the cash rates are admittedly high since it's the only Marriott on that side of the island.
