I normally hate this type of nickel & diming, but after my last flight LIS-SFO, I have to say I kind of sympathise with the approach. Some passengers tried to pass off absolutely obscene pieces of luggage as carry-ons, some even exceeding 16 kg. A line has to be drawn at some point, I guess.
